No one person's hearing loss is exactly the same as someone else's, hearing loss is a very unique aspect to the individual. However there are three types of hearing loss that a person can experience:-
Conductive Hearing Loss – this type of hearing loss is one that occurs when the sound gets lost in the middle ear space between the outer ear and the inner ear. Conductive hearing loss' can be experienced when there is a significant fluid build-up in the middle ear space, an ear infection, an eardrum perforation or earwax build up. This type of hearing loss can sometimes be corrected and is not always permanent.
Sensorineural Hearing Loss – this type of hearing loss is one that occurs when there is damage to the inner ear or the pathway that send the message from the ears to the brain. Sensorineural hearing loss can be experienced due to genetic or hereditary situations, aging of the ear, noise exposure or head trauma. This type of hearing loss is permanent and usually cannot be corrected.
Mixed Hearing Loss – this type of hearing loss is one that combines both a conductive and a sensorineural component. Mixed hearing losses can be experienced due to genetics or hereditary situations or due to a variety of medical conditions. This type of hearing loss may be permanent; however some aspects of the hearing may be corrected depending on the person's unique situations
